11/7 Day of Action for Higher Ed events in NYS

Published On: November 2, 2025

AAUP chapters around the state are planning local actions to defend higher education. The NY Metro Area Coalition has organized a large event at 11 am 11/7 to send a message to Marc Rowan, the billionaire behind Trump’s compact for colleges and universities, outside his office at Apollo Global Management, at 9 West 57th Street. If you are able to attend that event, click here to register. If you can’t make it to NYC, plan an event on your campus!

This list of suggestions for 7 actions for 11/7 from AAUP & AFT is quite useful (even if you can’t schedule your event for 11/7).

  • If your chapter has been inactive, call a chapter meeting and discuss signing onto the AAUP/AFT statement against the Trump administration “loyalty oath” compacts. Don’t have an AAUP chapter? You can sign on as an individual.
  • If your chapter is not up for a major adversarial action, perhaps an event on an issue that unites faculty, students, and administrations like a teach-in on student loans or a voter registration drive working with a community partner like the League of Women Voters.
  • Start making connections! Partner with a student organization on campus, a community group that serves your community, reach out to a faculty organization at a neighboring campus or partner with a staff organization if your chapter doesn’t include academic support staff.
  • Let National AAUP know what you are doing: November 7th Day of Action Registration
  • If you are planning something a bit more ambitious attend a training (October 28 or November 4 at 8pm)
  • If you need funding for your event, we are now awarding chapter development grants up to $300 (up to $500 for new chapters) on a rolling basis. Fill out the application form on our NYSC AAUP website and save your receipts!

If you are planning a regional event and would like us to publicize it on our website, nyscaaup.org, contact us at nyscaaup@gmail.com. And send us reports and photos of your 11/7 campus actions!
