A suit by faculty at Cooper Union in New York over its rights to set curriculum will go forward in Federal court. The suit alleges that course contact hours in some mathematics and science courses were adjusted downward without faculty input, in violation of university governance policy. Cooper Union had been in the news previously because of revocation of its tuition-free policy that had been in effect since its founding. The school has announcced though that the policy will be restored in ten years.
