NYSC AAUP Executive Director Sally Dear-Healey was invited to present oral testimony before the Assembly Standing Committee on Higher Education and the Committee on Mental Health on November 30th in Albany.
The purpose of the hearing was to “examine the mental health needs of students at colleges and universities and the steps institutions are taking to respond to those needs.”
While the focus was on student menal health, Dr. Dear-Healey was specifically invited to testify due to her focus on faculty and professional staff mental health, a connection recognized by the Honorable Deborah J. Glick, and others, as both imporant and relevant to the topic of student mental health.
Other speakers included our own James Davis, current President of the Professional Staff Congress (PSC)-CUNY, who spoke as part of a NYSUT, UUP, PSC Panel.
